NeverRide Winch

The first picture of the new small NeverRide winch has been released on wakeskating.ch. Patrick from ws.ch wrote the following about NeverRide and their new winches:
This year did not take place any in Europe without NeverRide. The Company from Switzerland, which builds Towing Devices as precisely and reliably as Swiss clocks, are always locally. After the ISPO in Munich, where in co-operation with Reef and New Schnitzel took place a exibition, during Interboot in Friedsrichshafen was NeverRide again on place, and shows in co-operation with the water cable park Pfullendorf, what is the future of winching. Wakeskating and Wakeboarding on the highest level, and the new “small” NeverRide Winch “Winchmaster DeLuxe” live in action ...

NeverRide Winches & Wakeskates 2008

One of the best (possible the best) winch companies is NeverRide. NeverRide starts with two winches and four wood wakeskates in the year 2008. The winches are:
  • Riders Edition
  • and a new X-Hive
For the first pictures of the winches check the NeverRide homepage, wakeskating.ch or here from time to time.
The wood wakeskates for 2008 are specially designed in Switzerland by NeverRide but they are produced by NewWakeskates in the US (really good quality in the past years). Here are some infos about the 3 classic wakeskates:
  • slider base
  • aggresive 3d concave
  • comes with riding fins RHIMMS 0,75er alloy fins
  • upgrade possible with shred fins SHRIMMS, mini alloy fins ------>
The Shrimms fins allow technical skate tricks like Nose-/Tailpress, Smith Crocked, 5-0 and so on. Nice add on for all obstacle freaks! For the detailed specs check wakeskating.ch. But that's not all, NeverRide has also a bi-level wakeskate next year. The bi-level is called DoubleDecker. But at the moment only the picture below exists, no pictures from top or side.

European Winches Part I
Swiss NeverRide and Hungaria Gaboard

Here are the first two winch companies from Europe - Gaboard and NeverRide. At first some information about the winches build by NeverRide. They have a hydrostatic winch the X Hive and a classic winch with variomatic (torque converter). Both winches are handmade in Swiss.

First some facts of the NeverRide X Hive:
Frame: High end stainless steel frame with lasercut outer shell
Motor: Briggs & Stratton Engine
Accessories: hydrostatic drive, 4 transportation wheels, (digital) dashboard, FlipUp hood, Safety-Stop-System, 2 anchor point,a underfloor lights (fo ya bling), electric starter, shock absorbing engine suspension

Here are the facts for the NeverRide Nr One:

Frame: superior quality steel with outer shell

Another good concept comes out of hungaria. Gaboard has been producing winches for two years now. The Gaboard winch can be order with different engine sizes. The winch on the picture has a 400cubic centimeter engine which has 15hp.
Frame: classic frame with full outer shell

Skate'n'Slide Volume 3 canceled

Here the latest infos from Patrick (Neverride, UGP Swiss) about the Skate'n'Slide in Zurich, Switzerland July 19th 2008:

Unfortunately it is not possible to realize a Skate'n'Slide in 2008. The searching of sponsors for the event was unsuccessfully, because it looks like Footballaballa is even more interesting then wakeskating, wakeboarding or skateboarding...

Is the Football-Fever out, it is already to late. With a heavy heart we have to advise that Skate'n'Slide Vol. 3 is cancelled for this year.

For all non European reader, the European championships in soccer was in Switzerland and Austria this year. We hope Skate'n'Slide is back 2009. All information from Skate'n'Slide homepage.

2nd skate'n'slide jam - Zürich

On July, 21st the 2nd skate'n' slide winch jam took place in Zürich sponsored by DVS, NeverRide, Rote Fabrik (location), Flaming Monkey and Mavericks.

The Red Factory is a great old factory building made of red bricks, which houses a lot of dancing clubs (one party started saturday night at 11p.m. and the people still partied at sunday 3p.m. :o), a cafe/restaurant, and many more. There's also a mid sized openair area directly at the lake where the jam took place. Two obstacles a kinked uprail and a straight rail were build. Around all that the trend village with their exhibitors showed the latest trends from the scene and the fine Catering cared for the well-being of the spectators.

The jam was like a jam should be, very relaxed and chilly. The training started at 9a.m. but the most rides arrieved around 11a.m. At 1p.m. the qualification for wakeskaters started the jam. After the wakeskate action the wakeboarders ran their qualification. From this moment on the timetable of the jam was out of scope but nobody cared and the skaters started their Qualification. Unfortunately the weather changed after the 6th rider immediately from warm sunshine to heavy rain and the skate part had to be canceled. The area was flooded within minutes but the smiling faces grinning from below the sunshades spoke volumes.
This was the end for the skate competition, but happily not the end of the whole jam. After one hour rain, the finals started with the wakeboarders and finished with the wakeskaters. At this moment all riders, the organizers and the rest of the visitors were like one big wet family. A good party at one of the clubs topped the jam off.

Special thanks to Patrick and his team from wakeskating.ch for the organisation. One hint at the end: a stronger winch would be better next year for all heavy riders.

For more news from swiss check wakeskating.ch. More pics and results from the event are on the skate'n'slide Homepage.

Neverride Accessories - Foamdecks and "Shrimms"

The Foam

There are very many different opinions about riding with griptape or foamdeck. One thing which most people will agree, buying griptape is a rather simple task, since there are skate-shops all over the place. Buying a single foam-sheet seems to be imposslible... until now.

The guys from switzerland have advanced their product range with some small but very nice things. They offer single foamsheets in black or white.

The foam material is equiped with strong M3- industrial glue.
The size of the sheets is 41,4 x 16 inch. They sell at 40 EUR per sheet.

The Shrimms

The other new item are the "shrimms" (shredding finns).
These skate-bump fins are made out of plastic material, similar to skate wheels.
Some tec-specs:
30 mm wide, 55mm long, 30mm high / weigth 44 gramms per pice / with metric screws.
