The Wakeskate Bomb crew works a little bit calmer these days, but the German Wakeskate scene lives to the fullest.

Treeknowlegde surprised us with a new collection at the start of this year. The crew released a new fun shape and a revised team model. The team has brought all his experience to the table. The result was the revised team model 2011 - build for flip tricks. Production has also been revised again. The aim was to increase the durability and power of the board to permanently gain more pop from the board.

Bo and his team could convince again this year a true artist for the board design. The board graphics are designed by Stefan Marx from Hamburg. Check out his website to see more work of him. A very limited artist edition is also available this year again. None other than Lowdown mastermind Marok is responsible for the artist edition. For all collectors hurry up, a real piece of art.Tarik and his brother (a passionate wakeskate kiter) have created a very unique shape, which combines different aspects from surfing, kiting and wakeskating in one shape - the ROCKET. It is for sure a fun shape and it is build for all people which want to have fun. It is not addressed to the technical stuff scene, which battles for the best backside 3 flip. Setting a cutback with the rocket is pure surf feeling and shredding obstacle with it is no problem. Check it out! All skates are available at the online store on the Treeknowledge website.

Here is the announcement for the first German wakeskate event in 2010 - WAKE THE POOL. The name sounds like the Red Bull event - WAKE THE LINE also the pulling device is a 2 masts cable system, but the cable is a RIXEN system called: Bro In The Box.

Pool is 55,86m length, 10,o2m width and 1,35m deep. The obstacle description is available in the Bulletin 2 in the next days.

In order to enter the competition you need to be registered on cablewakeboard.net. Entry fee is 50 Euro. The entry fee must paid cash latest when you register at the competition venue. Registration deadline is Friday 5th of February 20:00 (CET) but with 20 Euro you can get a possibility for late registration.

Foster's Cup 2009

Here are the results and pics from the foster's cup in Magdeboogie. The weather was good and bad together. During the qualification on Saturday was rain, wind, and no sun, but exact with the end of the qualification the sun comes back. This was the moment of Bret Little he stomped a switch fs heelflip direct in front of start dock. Mumpitz was also on fire and stomped some massive one footer, check the pic below.

At the evening was party time, for sure it was good and wet.

The finals was with sun and no wind, perfect conditions. Best tricks, fs flip, bs flip, sw flip, kflip, bs big, 3er kicker, sw bs 180 kicker and many more. Here are the results:

The level is rising in German wakeskate scene. Flip tricks are now normal and Franz Lacherbauer steps up to switch flips (pic on top) as a standard flip at competitions. Franz won the title with a sw flip in his run. The juniors are only short behind the mens, Mumpitz got the title also with a flip in his runs. 3 time in a row Drew took the master title home to Magdeboogie. Nico made the double: title in wakeskating and -boarding. Great respect for the Treeknowledge Crew and Treeknowledge buddies: 3 titles, one 2. place in 5 categories.

Only a couple more days and it’s finally time for Romboso jam #4!
Get prepared for a day full of amazing riding and some major partying!
Once again the jam is taking place at the cable in Duisburg Wedau. The after party will be at Zebrastall Bar in downtown Duisburg.
This event already is legendary so make sure you’ve at least witnessed it once!

The Wedau locals have set up some new rails this year so there will be some new goodies. Also the former pool jam will be transferred to the Sesitec 2.0 system where Unit Parktech obstacles are waiting to be shredded.

2010 Hyperlite and Byerly Wakeskates Preview

Here the first pics from the new 2010 Hyperlite and Byerly wakeskate line. All Hyperlite skates now come under the sub brand called catalyst.

Urso it a compression molded skate but with wood. 16 ply deck, concave top, die cut grip tape.
Nomad is a compression molded skate with deeper top concaves and kicks and an EVA / griptape blend top.
The vinyl is a bi - level, 9ply top deck with a thin compression molded base.
Byerly shows up two skates at the moment. The Blend is a bi Level, with a glassed ecore top deck, sealed wood deck for the feel and snap of wood but the durability of compression molding. ABS sidewalls to help seal the wood core and give max durability on sliders.The Revival is a compression molded skate with a limited lifetime warranty. The World Wakeboard Association (WWA) and the Ukrainian Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation (UWF) are pleased to announce the Ukrainian Wake Park Open and third stop of the 2009 WWA Wake Park World Series. This event will take place August 21-23 at the X-Traction Wake Park in Kiev with $27,000 in total cash prizes on the line.

This contest is open to all international competitors with 7 different categories in Pro Men, Pro Women, Pro Wakeskate, Junior Men, Masters Men, Obstacles Only contest and Night Winch Jam held on the Sesitec System 2.0. In addition to some incredible riding, there will be live music, open-air parties and a host of other activities, along with some sightseeing opportunities for those who wish to visit Kiev.

The Foam

There are very many different opinions about riding with griptape or foamdeck. One thing which most people will agree, buying griptape is a rather simple task, since there are skate-shops all over the place. Buying a single foam-sheet seems to be imposslible... until now.

The guys from switzerland have advanced their product range with some small but very nice things. They offer single foamsheets in black or white.

The foam material is equiped with strong M3- industrial glue.

The size of the sheets is 41,4 x 16 inch. They sell at 40 EUR per sheet.

The Shrimms

The other new item are the "shrimms" (shredding finns).

These skate-bump fins are made out of plastic material, similar to skate wheels.

Some tec-specs:

30 mm wide, 55mm long, 30mm high / weigth 44 gramms per pice / with metric screws.

Wet Signature has published the first pics of their new stick. It´s a bi-level wooden skate with a quite unique shape. it looks a little like a snowskate..

"This wood core is the only one of its kind in the market and for now im not gona say to much about it so it stays that way. It has a 3 stage rocker that is 1.5 inchs. It can be from 39-41 inchs in length, and it weights in at about 12 1/2 pounds so this one wont fly away on you. Both top and bottom core's are completelyin closed in a pbt plastic skin and closed off with black abs side wall. It is designed to ride like a bi level with more dramatic contour top but feel more like a 3d solid board.I have closed cell foam pads between the board to support the top deck and prevent from flexing very much. The pads also add some great cushioning when jumping big gaps or going big on the boat."

Oguso Team Skates available

Besides distributing OAK, INTEGRITY and UGP in Germany, OGUSO now has their own team skate. It is custom made to the size of 39,5"x16" with a 3-stage rocker of 2,1". According to Oguso the boards can be preordered now and will finally be available in two weeks. First buyers will get an extra t-shirt with board so make sure you hurry up.

Im not going into to much detail on construction just yet ... has some deep roots in snowboarding since we all know snow is just frozen water ... It is made to be ridin hard and have a life spand that will rival any fully composit board. It is 99% wood core but is fully enclosed in a composite skin and sidewalls to ensure no water logging. It looks like a bi level but with a closed cell foam core between the top and bottom deck to prevent the top deck from flexing so it rides and feels more like a solid 3d deck.The board size can be between 39 to 41 inches in length and a width of 13 1/2 inch's.

Here is the official statement for the european wakeskate championships 2009.

Full speed ahead in the country where the sun never sets: European Cable Wakeboard Championships 2009 takes place at the Finnish town of Ukkohalla. Midsummer, sauna … elks??? From 30 July 2009 to 2 August 2009 the European wakeboarding elite will get together in Finland/Ukkohalla. The ideal place to hold a European Championship off the beaten track. In the country of a thousand lakes a breath-taking mountain scenery, never-ending summer days and the world’s most northern Cable Wakeboard Facility are waiting to be discovered. Also part of the game: Wakeskating will be handled as an independent discipline as part of this European Cable Wakeboard Championships 2009.

Integrity has enlarged his collection of wakeskates. New in the product line are the Simplex and the Dada. Here a short description for Integrity:

The “Simplex” is a 9 ply birch concave deck with urethane sidewalls, PBT top and bottom sheets, flat base/no channels, sublimated graphics ... Neutral buoyancy and a lower profile rail help the deck sit lower in the water. This deck weighs in at 10.5 lbs. and fits what a wood wake skate purist wants in weight and feel ... The Simplex deck is available in 2 sizes - the 40.23” and 38.65”.

The “Dada” is a 5 ply wood blend flat deck with urethane sidewalls, PBT top and bottom sheets, flat base/no channels, sublimated graphic ... This deck weighs in at 10 lbs. and is aimed at helping new people enter our sport at a low price. One size available – 41 inches.

Red Bull - Wake the line 2009May 1th 2009, Müngersdorfer swimm stadium, Cologne, Germany

After the success of the last year contest - Wake The Line - Red Bull has announced a second edition of this event. Wake the Line is a contest for invited wakeboarder and wakeskater. Invited wakeskater are Leo Labadens (FRA), Andy Kolb (GER) for example. From April 28 until 29th you can win a wildcard for the event at the Warmup Session at the cable in Langenfeld. Registration is possible until April 27.th at the Wake The Line homepage.

The Red Bull Wake the Line contest takes place at the Müngersdorfer swimm stadium at May 1st 2009. Entrance starts 2.00pm, the first qualifying runs start at 2.30pm. Highlights are the Best Trick Contest and the finals in the early evening. The Red Bull Wake The Line-after-show party takes place in the Sensor club 10pm.

Here are the latest news from Treeknowledge. The revolutionary new wood wakeskate is in the production process. After a meeting with all the team rider the concave was changed a little bit to make a real flip wakeskate. The cores are shaped and the wakeskates are now in the press for the upper and lower beld. The date for delivery seems to be the beginning of April.

The first video shows the shaping of the core with a Sinumerik 840D controlled 5 axis CNC milling machine. The second one is a short view on the virtual wakeskate model. This model is the base for making everything you can imagine with a wakeskate.

If you wanna see how the english guys are riding you can check this video and this travel report form a trip to germany / Blaichach.

For all of you plannig a trip to germany in 2009: the cable in Blaichach is changing the owner / operator and the obstacle-park will be seriously cut. There are rumors that most of the sesitec-obstacles will be moved to new cable near freiburg.

But since germany has more cables than any other place thre are many substitutes. We can recoment the schwandorf - cable (see some pictures here) and of course the cable in Magdeburg.

Here are the latest screenshots from the CAM building process of the Treeknowledge wakeskate core. The screenshots are out of the 3d model building process and not complete finished. You can see a little bit the variable edge design and the unique bottom design of a Treeknowledge. The core will be manufactured with a 5 axis CNC milling maschine.
